What Eligible Patients May Pay
Eligible beneficiaries may pay $50 for a monthly supply of covered GLP-1 medications when the claim is approved under the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge. Coverage is not guaranteed.
Approval depends on:
- Medicare GLP-1 Bridge eligibility
- The prescribed medication
- The diagnosis / indication
- Prior authorization approval
CMS states the program runs from July 1, 2026 through December 31, 2027, and operates outside the normal Medicare Part D payment flow.

The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge applies only to certain eligible GLP-1 medications for weight management. Coverage may include:
- Wegovy
- Zepbound KwikPen
- Foundayo
Not all GLP-1 medications or formulations are covered. Medications prescribed for conditions normally covered under Medicare Part D, such as diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, MASH/NASH, or cardiovascular risk reduction, may need to be billed through the patient's regular Medicare Part D or Medicare Advantage prescription plan instead.
